Carmel - Centre Manager

Carmel holds a Diploma in Children's Services in Childcare, Food Safety 1 & 2 and Food Supervisor Certificate. Having been involved in childcare for 24 years Carmel has held several positions from Assistant, Room Leader, Director, Regional Manager and now Manager of La Kosta Hampton Park. Carmel has a passion for working with children is dedicated and enthusiastic and looks forward to bringing  knowledge and experience to La Kosta. Carmel is a self motivated individual , as well as an organised and enthusiastic person who likes a well presented person with colourful displays, educational programs that cater for the interests and needs of the children, encouraging parent participation and becoming involved in the community. Childcare is a necessity for so many parents therefore it should be a home away from home where children feel loved, secure and stimulated. Carmel’s focus is high quality childcare that is not only maintained but always improving and growing. 

   





 

La Kosta ELC - Debbie, Centre Manager

 

Nursery Room

0 weeks - 12 months

Our Purple Room provides care for up to 15 children with a separate cot room. This room provides a caring and nuturing environment for your babies that is cosy and warm. There are soft areas with rugs and cushion with books, shelves with with age appropriate toys for self selection, push along toys and ride on toys. The carers provide activity boards, rattles, shakers, manipulate toys set out on mats for the children to play with. They have their own outdide playing area with climbing equipment on a soft fall area under a shade sail. They also have a sand pit for sensory play and a path for ride on toys.

Toddler Room

12 months - 2 years

Our Blue Room provides care for up to 15 children. Toys are displayed on shelves for self selection, a quiet book corner with soft toys and cushions, table and chairs for cognitive and art activities. There are colourful displays and the children's own artwork displayed throughout the room. The carers encourage independence in the toddlers by encouraging them to sit at the table and feed themselves.  Carers have group time, reading, poetry and singing to the children. The toddlers have their own outside play area with age appropriate climbing equipment on soft fall under a shade sail, a path for riding bikes and a sandpit for sensory and dramatic play.

Junior Kindy Room

2 - 3 years

Our Green Room provides care for up to 18 children. This room a play areas set up daily e.g. dramatic play, dress ups, home corner, story corner with cushions and books displayed. Shelves with activities for self selection by the toddlers. Tables set up for cognitive e.g. puzzles, bead frames; fine motor e.g. threading, lego; sensory play e.g. playdough, slime; art/craft e.g. painting, pasting, drawing; nature table with branches, leaves and animals. Toddlers have their own bathroom with nappy changing and toilet training facilities. They have their own outside play area with climbing equipment of soft fall under a shade sail, a path for riding bikes and a sandpit for sensory play and dramatic play.

Senior Kindy Room

3 - 4 years

Our Yellow Room provides care for up to 24 children. This room has several areas set up for individual and group play e.g. home corner, multicultural table, nature table, book corner with cushions and books for self selection. There are several tables set up with cognitive, fine motor and art/craft activities daily. There are shelves with activities to encourage self selection of activities. The carer in the Pre Kindy room plays the guitar daily and sings to the children daily, the children are encouraged to have a turn at playing the guitar. The children are encouraged to develop their independence skills by serving their own lunch. They have their own outside play area with climbing equipment on soft fall with a shade sail, footpaths for riding bikes and a sandpit for sensory and dramatic play.

Preschool Room

4 - 5 years

Our Pink Room provides care for up to 25 children. We provide a funded Kindergarten program for children the year before they commence school. The teacher provides transitions reports for these children. The activities provided are English language development, art/craft, music and drama, environmental awareness, maths and science, balance and co-ordination, gross and fine motor skills, group and individual activities. They have their own outdoor play area with climbing equipment on soft fall under a shade sail, footpaths for riding bikes and a large sandpit for sensory and dramatic play.
