East Ivanhoe Early Learning Centre - Our Centre

Hayley - Centre Manager

As the centre director I aim to:
Direct and run a centre that provides high quality of care at all times, meeting all regulations and accreditation standards.   To run a centre that has a warm, loving and friendly atmosphere where both the children, parents and staff feel safe, secure and happy within their new environment. For the staff to form good relationships with the parents and have open communication between them.   To run a well supervised centre that provides the children with an indoor and outdoor program that will give the children the opportunities to grow and learn at their own individual pace. The environment will cater for the needs of all children and encourage healthy development of physical, emotional, intellectual and social skills. Provide a program that will provide the children with opportunities to explore language, music and movement, science and the arts, to help them make sense of their world. To create a learning environment which will encourage children to interact, take on roles and develop relationships with others through play.   To ensure that staff provide and implement an adequate educational program where each child’s individual needs and interests are met according to each stage of development   I believe that children are individual and unique, with diverse learning needs. I therefore understand that they all need opportunities to further develop their individuality, in all developmental and curriculum areas.   I will respect the rights and opinions of parents and the community and encourage parent participation and a broad interest in the community.

Centre Director - East Ivanhoe

Ladybirds Room

0 - 15 months

We have a high ratio of 1 to 4 in our Ladybirds room which means we have more time to provide one-on-one interactions with each child throughout the day.

A range of developmentally appropriate activities are planned each week for the Ladybirds room. We provide a stimulating environment focussing on all areas of development specifically looking at gross motor, fine motor, language and sensory.

Activities such as music and movement with instruments encourage language and fine motor skills. Making cups of tea in home corner and talking on the telephones encourages both their social and emotional skills.

Sensory activities such as feely bags, textures books, and shaker bottles are just a few of our resources that we use. The children have a separate outdoor area that engages them in activities such as tunnels to crawl through, sand pit, building blocks, trikes and swings are just a few pieces of equipment that we use in our program.

We follow each child's individual routine throughout the day ensuring that their needs are being met.

Honeybees Room

15 months - 2 years

The Honeybees room provides a nurturing and comfortable environment, focusing on the child's individual needs and interests through play.

Our long term staff provide a nurturing environment which gives children a sense of safety, security and belonging.

Each staff member supports the children to enhance all areas of development with a broad range of age appropriate activities.

A focus in the Honeybees room is the children's self help and independence skills. Staff encourage and guide the children to develop their self-help and independence skills by providing them with ample opportunities to do so.

Caterpillars Room

2 - 2.5 years

We provide a whole learning experience where children are free to observe, question, experiment and explore their environment.

Children will be engaged in activities focusing on the different developmental areas such as painting, play dough, water play, dress ups, puzzles, blocks, etc.

We offer a warm and caring environment catering for the needs of each child.

Crickets Room

2.5 - 3.5 years

We offer a well structured and developmentally appropriate program engaging in fun and exciting activities each day. The team ensures that the children are provided with a safe, clean and happy learning environment.

Children participate in group time each day which consists of singing songs, story time and playing learning games with our friendly staff.

The Crickets room is an inviting space with plenty of children's art work that provides discussion within families and allows the children to be proud of what they have achieved.

Kinder Room

3.5 - 5 years

Our Kinder Program provides activities that are aimed at promoting all areas of development and also prepares your child for school.

This room is run by a qualified Kindergarten teacher. We provide opportunities for children to explore, play, learn and create in a relaxed and happy environment.

The Kinder program caters for each child's individual needs, focusing on interests and strengths. The long term staff incorporate self help skills into every day routines, encouraging independence.

Our Kinders rooms have computers that have only education programs which children are free to use during the day. Above all we want our children to have fun whilst learning!
