Healthy development and learning grows in a safe and stimulating environment. Free expression and choice are vital for problem solving and individual differences must be catered for.

Set programmes, planned through observations, designed to achieve diverse goals are flexible yet predictable. They incorporate all individual needs and interests. These programmes provide children with peer interaction, staff contact and lead to positive learning outcomes. Review on a regular basis ensures the programme remains stimulating and appropriate and that the play orientated programme incorporates all areas of child development.

Co-operative strategies must be reinforced and children guided by appropriate directions to provide positive outcomes. With trial and error, redirection and encouragement, a child can modify their behaviour and social rapport increases. Professional carers are to provide high quality care and guarantee the consistency of educational and developmental standards. Staff encourage co-operation, decision making and mutual acceptance amongst their children. Staff act as observers, role models and friends. Listening and reacting positively to children’s goals and ideas instils trust and compassion. Working as a team with patience and understanding are vital factors for effective interaction. Parent liaison, accountability and involvement ensures trust in care givers and fosters a responsibility to create the best environment possible.

This helps a growing understanding and appreciation by the parents. Staff are available to pass on professional knowledge about early childhood development, education, nutrition, and health and safety issues to parents and carers who require information or guidance. Carers who delight in the conscientious nurturing of children will appreciate the innate learning abilities and maturation levels of all children. A sensitive approach instils trust and a suitable environment ensures the child’s safety, health, physical, intellectual, emotional and social development – and ultimately his/her educational success.
