Tigers Preschool - Happy Staff Happy Children

Baby Bilbies Room

8 weeks - 15 months

With a high staff ratio of 1 staff member to 4 children, our Babies room provides a warm, calming and loving environment for children to feel safe and gain confidence in discovering and exploring their new environment. The higher ratio ensures that there is always at least one staff member down interacting with the children and being attentive to their individual needs. We have a separate sleep room for the babies for them to have a quiet place to relax and sleep. The babies have their own large outdoor play area. This provides them with space to explore their environment.

Wombats Room (Toddlers)

14 months - 2 years

Toddlers Love exploring….. So at Tiggers we make sure that our programs provide the children with lots of different and educational opportunities to enhance and develop this. Lots of open ended experiences, natural materials, music and puppets are just a few of the experiences that will be on offer for your child each day. The toddlers have their own large outdoor garden to play and explore in. Their garden is natural and well shaded with large mature trees. In their outdoor environment the children can play and explore with the sandpit, swings, ride-on bikes and a quiet area for relaxing and reading in.

Turtles Room

2 - 3 years

We aim to provide a learning environment where your child will be free to develop, learn and grow in every way possible.

Children’s language will be extended through dramatic experiences, individual and group plays, music, stories and lots of one on one conversations with staff and their peers.

Our outdoor playground is sure to impress… With large natural areas and surroundings, even the most active child will have lots to keep them busy learning.

Gumnut Room

3 - 4 years

Our Early Childhood Teacher develops an educational program where your child will learn to be more independent and social amongst their peers, and gain more of an understanding of themselves as people, and the environment around them.

They will flourish socially through their imaginative and dramatic experiences, of role play experiences and group times.

Learn more about the world and environment through science and group discussions and activities.

Each child will be encouraged to help plan the educational activities, but never be forced to participate in anything they do not feel comfortable with. The Gumnut Room shares the outdoor play area with the Turtle Room and the playground is sure to impress… With large natural areas and surroundings, even the most active child will have lots to keep them busy learning.

Kangaroo Room

4 - 5 years

In the Early Learning Centre: A small and structured Kindergarten area separate from the main building. Our Early Childhood Teacher develops a program with a strong educational content that will have your child ready and prepared for school with a school readiness program that runs for the whole year. We use Letterland with the children to help them with their literacy skills - this program is used in many of the schools in the area. The children have access to computers in the room.

Our Kinder Programs will encourage:

  • Your child to build positive relationships with each other and to build trust with caregivers
  • Your child to build resilience and independence skills
  • Parents to come into the centre, and become involved in our weekly programs
  • Your child to develop Numeracy & Literacy Skills

Parent Testimonial

"Hi Della,

Hope this finds you well. Further to our conversation in the last fortnight, I wanted to expressGemma Sartori | Tiggers Childcare Centre formally, our sentiments regarding Madeleine’s ELC Kindergarten Teacher, Gemma Sartori.

Madeleine (and Michael and I) enjoyed a wonderful year in Older Pre-Kinder in 2009, much due to the care and quality of educational tuition she received from Gemma. So, as you can appreciate, we were absolutely wrapped when we were advised that Gemma had secured the role of permanent Kindergarten Teacher in the ELC.

Madeleine has always been a child who thrives on learning and has a thirst for acquiring new knowledge and experience. Her year thus far in the ELC has continued to nurture this desire in her. This we can attribute a great deal to Gemma with the support of her assistants Intan and Maggie (both girls we have found to be brilliant as well). Gemma leads her team to:

  • Show demonstrable and genuine care for our children, providing for an environment where the children feel safe and secure;
  • Promote a culture of positive learning, through academic and social experiences/teachings;
  • Foster a respectful and collaborative approach to learning and engaging with each other;
  • Engage with both children and their families alike – this is absolutely fantastic and gives parents such a sense of confidence in the quality of care their children receive.
Gemma’s role I would imagine is a rewarding, however challenging one, having to manage the days of 20+ active 4-5 year olds. Yet, she is always positive, amiable and genuinely interested and engaging. She is clearly an asset to Tigger’s and I can say confidently, has enabled our daughter to have what I consider to be, a wonderful pre-cursor into formal education when she reaches primary school next year. The only thing we would really like to see is a further focus in the children’s education on the alphabet, words and reading – Madeleine is just itching to read independently! We can only hope that our daughter Lucinda is fortunate enough to have Gemma, or at the very least, someone of her calibre when she reaches the ELC."
