Letterland - Successfully teaching your child to read and write

Letterland is a unique, phonics based approach to teaching, reading, writing and spelling for 3-8 year olds. Letterland provides a link between letter sounds and letter shapes.

At Love Kids Early Learning Centre we believe it is essential that our preschool children are given a solid foundation in phonics before moving to primary school. Letterland helps to build this foundation in a unique play based way.

Your preschool child has free access to computers at Love Kids Early Learning Centre. This well established and successful system will help teach your child
• to listen and use spoken language
• explore and experiment with language
• sustain attentive listening and respond to what they have heard
• extend their vocabulary and explore the meaning of sounds and new words
• hear and say initial sounds and words
• link sounds to letters, name sounds and letters of the alphabet

Possum Potters

At Possum Potters we use clay as the primary medium through which we introduce children to art. Our approach supports the assumption that the real value of art lies in recognising it as a highly individual language that helps children to make vital sense of their world.

All children reveal their creative impulses long before they start school. Creative exploration is as central to a child's existence as talking, singing or dancing, yet is often not taken very seriously. Children are not always given the materials or the time to do themselves justice.

Jitterbugs

Jitterbugs is a program which enables children to develop their creative abilities, use their imagination, gain an understanding of rhythm, increase co –ordination and improve self confidence.

Using age appropriate music, movement songs, games and props, Jitterbugs sessions emphasis the fun of movement and Music.

Through movement children are able to tune their fine and gross motor skills and further develop such skills as concentration, listening to directions, working together in a group and waiting their turn, whilst they are simply having fun!
