Koala’s
18 months - 2.5 years
The Koala’s have a keen focus on self help skills. By doing this it gives the children a sense of empowerment as they are learning to do things for themselves, such as feeding themselves, washing hands and face etc. The Koala’s enjoy a lot of sensory experiences such as painting, collage, play dough etc. This assists with the development of a variety of the areas of development.The Koalas enjoy sharing a lovely outdoor area with the Joey’s children.
Wallabies
2.5 - 3.5 years
The Wallabies have a yard all to themselves where they enjoy participating in experiences such as art work, obstacle courses, playing ball games or reading books on the stage, just to mention a few.The Wallabies have a keen interest on group times, where the children are encouraged to read stories, doing dancing, talking about child initiated areas of interest as a group.
Bilbies
3 - 4 years
The focus in the Bilbies room is preparing 3 to 4 year olds for the transition into the oldest room, the Possums. This involves beginning the Phonics program, Letterland. Letterland is delivered on a system whereby each letter has a different character and a story behind it. The children enjoy learning all of the different letters, as well as partaking in the various activities which assists in the retention of new information.The children enjoy participating in various cooking experiences, which assists the children not only by giving them a fun activity, but also by assisting will all areas of necessary development at this age.
Possums
4 - 5 years
As a lot of the Possums will be heading off to school next year, there is a keen focus on School Readiness. This involves becoming familiar with letters and numbers. The children discover literacy via the Letterland program, and numbers are found through various group time experiences, and much more. The children become familiar with the structure of a Prep Program as the Possums room runs to a structured routine. By doing this, the transition to school is an exciting one, rather than daunting.
