Brighton East Early Learning Centre Fox Kids - Our Centre

Kathleen - Centre Manager

I have been working in childcare for 11 years. In this time I have been an assistant, Room Leader, 2IC and Centre Manager. I have completed my Diploma in Children’s Services, Food handling certificate, First Aid, Epi-pen training and many other professional development courses.

Being responsible for children’s early development and observing them and their families grow, gives me great satisfaction.

My philosophy is to ensure that a safe environment is provided for all children in our care and all children’s needs are met in all areas of development.

I strive to ensure that all families are happy with the care provided aiming to exceed expectations!!

I believe that every child is unique and develops in their own way and at their own speed - we really cater to these needs at Fox Kids.

Babies Room

6 weeks - 18 months

We aim to provide children with a safe environment that they can enjoy and explore. We want for the children to feel safe with their carers while they are developing.

We provide children with art experiences, outdoor play and sensory activities. We are continuously working on each individual child’s self help skills. The staff promote the development of skills such as feeding themselves, sitting at a table, wiping their faces after meals, settling themselves at sleep time and walking.

Toddler Room

1 - 2 years

We aim to provide children with an effective and stimulating environment that they can explore freely and extend on their developmental areas. We extend on self help skills and language communication encouraging positive behaviour between peers. We have group times throughout the day, encouraging children to interact and communicate with carers and other children. We encourage all children to take part in art and craft experiences and messy play. Outdoor play is a big part of the day with children extending their gross motor skills, through climbing, riding bikes and digging in the sand pit.

Pre-Kinder Room

2 - 3 years

Every day we continue to work on all developmental areas ensuring that all needs are being attended to, nurtured and encouraged to extend competently. We encourage toilet training, table manners, self help skills and forming positive relationships with -peers and carers. We learn new songs through group times and implement stories using puppets and a range of different props.

Kinder Room

3 - 5 years

Foxkids Kinder Room offers a developmental program that incorporates children from the age of 3 through to 5. This provides the opportunity to gain strong social interaction skills, older children modelling skills to those younger and in turn, developing a caring attitude of their own. The room is grouped in-line with developmental needs.

Foxkids Kinder Room offers a stimulating and creative program designed specifically with your child in mind. We achieve this through observations and constant interaction, to provide appropriate experiences that meet all the developmental needs of the child. While we focus on various aspects of development, cognition, language, social and motor development, we also encourage creative open play, to allow the child to explore the world around them. We also provide a school readiness program for those older, providing one on one attention, more structure and access to developmentally appropriate computer programs including Letter Land which concentrates on the alphabet lower and upper case recognition as well as sounds and words and much much more.

  • Children gain more of an understanding of the world around them by experiencing a meaningful curriculum
  • Observations are made on each child to gather information on their development, interests and strengths for programming
  • Our child-centred approach includes an emphasis on community and parental involvement to assist carers in learning about their children’s background and individual needs
  • Every child needs to feel safe and secure in their environment. We believe building strong and trusting relationships with children is essential
  • Documenting young children’s learning to see a progressive improvement in developmental areas and for the children to take pride in their own achievements

Kinder Room values...

  • Support learning through positive interaction and feedback
  • To provide both open-ended and structured experiences
  • Draw from interests and strengths of individual children
  • We value all children as individuals who develop at different stages
  • Kindergarten is a time to expand children’s love of learning, their general knowledge and socialisation
