Brisbane CBD Child Care Smarter Kids on Edward - Our Centre   Rebecca - Centre Manager Rebecca has an Advanced Diploma in Children's Services and is currently studying her Bachelor of Education. Rebecca has worked in the childcare industry for 8 years, starting her career as an assistant and progressing through to become Director of The Lakes Early Learning Centre. Rebecca's organizational skills and bubbly personality, compliment the very high standards she works towards within the child care industry.   Nursery Room 6 weeks - 2 years In the Nursery Room we have developed a flexible daily program to suit each individual child. During the day the children are given a lot of opportunities to explore and develop their skills and the new world. Our program aims to enhance and develop the 'whole' child. We trust that your time with us will be very enjoyable and rewarding. We look forward to caring for your child's needs at the same time growing in friendship and trust with you and your child.

Junior Kindy Room

2 - 3 years

Our number one goal as caregivers is to create a home like atmosphere, an environment built with trust, respect, warmth, love and comfort. An environment, which is familiar to the child, that is safe and secure. Our staff will assist in making your child feel comfort and secure within the centre environment. Our Program aims to enhance and develop the whole child, this means that the Weekly Program covers all development areas, and that all experiences are linked to an objective.

Kindy Room

3 - 5 years

In the Kindy room we start to introduce your child to logical thinking. For example: puzzles and problem solving experiences. This then leads to more challenging learning experiences which involve all your child's developmental levels which include language, cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, social/emotional and creative development. Our main aim is to give lots of opportunities throughout the day's program for your child to learn and explore their environment with hands on experiences. Our qualified staff have many years of experience in the childcare industry, and offer a friendly, caring environment.

Senior Kindy Room

4 - 5 years

In the Senior Kindy Room we begin to prepare your child for school, by introducing pre reading and pre writing skills as well as developing self help skills, problem solving and social interactions. These skills are taught in a fun relaxed manner - through games, stories, dramatic play, puzzles, art experiences, signing, turn taking, etc. The experiences we provide are aimed at developing the children's cognitive, receptive and expressive language, gross and fine motor skills as well as social and emotional development.

Before and After School Care / Vacation Care

4 - 12 years

Our qualified staff member will escort children to and from the local school. We also have a local Christian school that picks up and drops off the children to our centre. Children are given afternoon tea and then, staff will assist in completing homework or listening to reading. Children have the choice of a variety of activities including the use of educational games on the computers. During vacation time a program is developed to provide fun filled activities, this may include picnics, visits to museums, arts and crafts.
